Landscape For Your Personality

I have just watched and made mental notes through the years about peoples personalities and their landscaping choices

. I have noticed that people who are a little uptight have very manicured landscaping, their flowers are in rows with alternating colors, red, white, red, white or what ever their choice of colors are. The flowers are usually of a couple of varieties planted with a yard stick so everything is neat and orderly. Orderly people love orderly flower beds, lawns mowed twice on the diagonal and a place for everything and everything in its place. They also used minimal variety of flowers, using only a couple of colors and varieties makes order much simpler.

People who hate to spend money never have water features, they have petunias, marigolds, maybe a few geraniums in pots by themselves. The idea of buying flats of flowers of different varieties, colors and shapes would be unthinkable to them. There might be waste. One flower to a pot is sufficient. No need for 6 or 7 to a pot. They also tend to be minimalist. These people might have a yard full of dandelions as weed and feed is more expensive than simply fertilizing it if even that is done.

Showy people have waterfalls, stone walks, arbors, fences, a profusion of flowers, but all in the front yard where they can be showed of to there greatest advantage. No since of putting in a water feature in the back yard where everyone can't see it. These people have beautiful yards on a large scale, often missing the tiny details that make a garden come to life.

My favorite yards are those flowing with variety, a hidden pond here, a hidden sculpture over here, a rare and beautiful tree beside a bench, flowers in all their varieties and a profusion of color, height and smells. These people love their yards and delight in a hidden spot for reading and reflecting. They love to work in their yards and they are often an ongoing adventure in horticulture. Atlanta has landscaping supply companies that cover every type of yard from minimalist to extreme. Something for every personality. I love to go to landscaping supply companies or nurseries or anywhere that sells things just a little off the beaten path, if you will. I could browse for hours and dream of the profusion of blooms I would like to see cascading the side of a water feature. Hidden benches under a shade tree, pots of flowers, birds singing. Or simply a patio covered with potted flowers of all varieties. Something for everybody and every personality of the people who live there.
