Laser Hair Removal laser and loser
In 1959 Gordon Gould introduced the word LASER into the dictionary, standing for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation it could so easily have been Light Oscillation by Stimulated Emission of Radiation which would have meant everyone finding the LOSER so useful. In 1960 the first working laser was demonstrated by T H Maiman. The operational laser is now 50 years old. Lasers are now used in all fields industry, medicine, entertainment, the home. Where would the cd player have been or the bar-code scanner without the laser. Lasers have invaded all areas of life in only 50 years. The medical and surgical uses are being expanded and exploited constantly. Their use in non-surgical cosmetic procedures is a relatively new development.
Laser hair removal is a developing area and historical data on the treatments is still being gathered. It just hasn't been around long enough to allow chronologically spread data capture. There is a lot of discussion and disagreements over the effectiveness of laser hair removal. Data from clinical trials has been slow to gather and data from patients and consultations has so far yielded little conclusive evidence on the long term effects.
It is very important to choose a reputable clinic and practitioner with proper procedures and training who uses good reliable equipment.
Laser hair removal treatment is normally classified as successful when the targeted area is free from hair re-growth for a reasonably long term or the hair growth is delayed or reduced to a significant extent. Hair on the treated areas should begin to drop out and should carry on over the next few weeks until it has gone. The amount falling out of course depends upon the area treated and the original amount.
What can be expected from laser hair removal for the client? The results vary from area to area, person to person.
Permanent hair removal may be attained. Laser hair removal can permanently remove the hair from the treatment areas but this cannot be guaranteed.
Hair may grow back in the treatment areas but may be reduced ie it may be thinner or patchy or even lighter and thus less noticeable.
