The normal light bulb contains a filament which takes up a lot of energy to burn and until and unless the filament does not burns the light is not produced. In case of LED more energy is consumed to provide illumination and less energy is consumed to heat. LED illuminations are more compact than CFL.
The advantage to a household of using LED light bulbs and tube lights is that a household ends up saving a lot of money.
