Leica Uncovers Its New Compact Models In Malaysia

Leica Camera has announced the expansion of the 'Leica la carte' program

, an exclusive concept of creating a Leica camera tailored for users' personal taste. Leica held a small unveiling session for its new Leica V-Lux 4, Leica M, and Leica D-Lux 6 digital cameras in Malaysia on 11, October 2012, after the successful launch at Photokina in Germany. During the session, Mathieu Musnier, Area Sales Manager, South East Asia, Leica Camera Asia Pacific, was present to give a brief history on Leica and introduce the new models.

Leica V-Lux 4

A digital compact camera by Leica V-Lux 4 unites high-performance lens, superior quality, and outstanding image quality in a compact format. The camera features a wide range of video functions like full HD video in AVCHD format with 1920 x 1080 pixels and 60 full frames per second. The camera with Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 4.5-108mm f2.8 ASPH, 24-fold super-telephoto zoom lens with focal lengths equivalent to 25-600mm in 35mm format is ideal for all photographic conditions, including unfavorable lighting. The camera is an ideal alternative for SLR systems to shoot landscapes, sport, architecture, travel, wildlife, and portraits.

Leica D-Lux 6

The latest model in the successful Leica D-Lux line of compact cameras, Leica D-Lux 6, provides imaging quality with entirely new standards. The exceptionally fast and newly designed lens, with Leica DC-Vario-Summilux f1.4- 2.3/4.7-17.7 mm ASPH, delivers high quality images. The D-Lux 6 offers comprehensive features with manual setting option, automatic mode, and new, Full HD video recording capability. The combination of high-performance lens and 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor ensures brilliant images revealing the world. The new image processor allow photography with sensitivities from ISO 80 to 12800, the images can be viewed in four formats viz. 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 on the LCD monitor.

Leica M

Choosing to drop the model numbers, Leica's latest M-System camera is simply named Leica M. It is a digital rangefinder and the first camera to implement a newly constructed CMOS image sensor featuring additional focusing methods and functions such as full HD video capability and Live View. This is a relatively affordable option for consumers who want to experience the fascination of the M system camera in its purest form.

Leica also announced a new Leica X2 la carte variant, that will allow users customize the X2 from body material to leather type. The designer Paul Smith also seems to be a fan of the Leica X2 as he gave an aesthetic twist to the camera with only 1,500 units available around the world, making it truly exclusive.
