Lg Have Loaded The Pop With A Full Web Browser And A Digital Camera
LG have been banging out countless affordable mobile phones since I can remember;
taking the moments best technology and downsizing it for an affordable, accessible alternative. The LG Pop is no different; it is the cheapest touch screen smartphone on the market today. With it you get a mobile camera, internet access, FM radio and social network compatibility. LG have given the phone an easy to use interface, so it you are new to the smartphone experience the LG Pop is the ideal phone to get started.
The design of the phone has been kept basic and functional; the Pop is comfortable to handle and the slim, sleek design gives the phone an air of expensiveness, but dont forget, it is super cheap. Sticking within the boundaries of minimalist design, the production tea at LG have only supplied one physical key called the Smart Key; the button represents a number of functions including call/end. The metallic finish has been chosen for the back casing while they have gone for the matte look on the front. For me this inconsistency drags on the Pops visual appeal a little.
The 3.0 inch WQVGA display supports the phones resistive touch technology, though it is not as receptive as higher spec capacitive options it does fall within the price range of the device. One of the Pops shining features is the uncomplicated, user friendly interface which includes a three-way home screen with the LiveSquare feature , LiveSquare is a sweet little feature which displays your favourite contacts as cute little avatars. To communicate with an avatar just pick him/her up and drop them on the toolbar below for your preferred choice of communication.
The phones web capabilities are limited by the lack of Wi Fi and more noticeably 3G. The Pop relies on GSM/EDGE network coverage for mid-speed downloading and though the browser can be a little clunky, the Pop can be forgiven as the price of the device is so low. The in-browser controls are easy to operate; zooming is done by a simple drag bar and the bookmarks feature is great for saving your favourite pages.
The 3MP camera LG have thrown in is supported by a number of image editing tools; the quality is reasonable and the same goes for the video recorder which shoots QVGA videos at 12 frames per second. You can upload content to YouTube thanks to the send option. The video player will comfortably handle your mp4 and 3gp formats but unfortunately DivX and Xvid arent supported, the music player does the basics; it players standard audio files and keeping an organized library will be easy as the interface organizes your tunes.
The LG Pop is the ideal phone for smartphone virgins; the touch screen is receptive enough not to limit your experience and the interface is so easy to use it would be a breeze for a chimpanzee. A full digital camera system is in place for budding photographers and the music player has integrated support for FM radio. The phones memory can be expanded up to 8GB and the Bluetooth technology will allow advanced wireless file transfer with compatible devices.
