Lifespan of household appliances
Things used to be built to last, before machinery and techniques were created which
meant designing and manufacturing household appliances was really cheap and easy. Nowadays, the government is trying to turn back to the good old days by encouraging manufacturers to build environmentally friendly products and for people to have items repaired where possible rather than throwing them in a landfill and buying new.
How realistic is this theory with old household appliances, new ones and ones which have already undergone repair? These days appliances can be as good as new after a repair and they really don't have to cost the earth, meaning when people are too quick to throw their faulty one away, they are too quick to throw their own money on the scrap heap with it. The lifespan of appliances is, on average, between five and ten years depending on what it is, the quality of it and how you use and maintain it so it's difficult to put an exact figure on each individual item. Having said that, you can dramatically improve the lifespan of your appliance by following manufacturer's guidelines, having your item serviced regularly and not overloading it or overusing it.
It's easy to pile the washing into the washing machine until it won't fit another sock in, or to stack the dishwasher full to bursting with dirty plates but these are not good for the machine's component parts which will be stretched beyond capacity and might well not last so well the next time. While machines are built to be fairly robust, because they are also built to perform so many different tasks there are a lot of things which can go wrong too. It is worth having the number of a reliable and more importantly local appliances engineer on hand just in case of emergency and if you choose a good one the chances are that they'll not only arrive quickly in an emergency but will also be able to give you a timed slot if it's not urgent but a definite inconvenience.
These appliances specialists cannot only carry out things like oven repairs or a one off dishwasher repair when you need them to, they can also service your household appliances and often give you advice on how to stop the same problem from happening again and how to extend the lifespan even after a repair. So don't assume the lifespan of any common household appliance is short, it could be that you get ten years or more out of yours if you treat it right!
Find a reliable and local appliances repair engineer online who will carry out fully insured and quick
oven repairs or an urgent
