, stadiums and hotels. As we move into a more environmentally friendly period of time, the job of many engineers has shifted towards producing more machines that require less human intervention.

Automation, or the use of machines that are, for the most part, totally self sufficient has become the popular way to speed along the manufacturing process. Especially where GE Fanuc PLC series are involved as well as other facets of electrical companies and other areas of mass production, it only makes sense to use machines that dont require quite as much human interference. Granted, some human intervention is still required in the production process in order to oversee the machines and make sure that they are functioning properly. However, it has since been made official that the less manpower you need, the less money you will have to spend, thus increasing work productivity while saving money.

Other examples of automation can be seen in the car manufacturing business as well as with construction companies. Why, just the other week, I was going for a walk around the neighborhoods that surround the area that I live in when I noticed that there were some construction workers surveying a piece of land. By the end of the week, there were five houses that had been erected on the same plot of land that had been completely void of anything earlier in the week. It blew my mind to think of how quickly these workers were able to erect the houses.

Automation is not completely self sufficient because those who are familiar with it or who are trying to use it elsewhere still need to be informed as well as to inform others who will be utilizing automation as to how it works. Training manuals, materials involved and demonstrations of how the equipment works are all necessary in order to ensure that things run smoothly.

It is exciting to think about all of the possibilities that lay ahead in the not-too-distant future with regards to machinery increasing the output of work in the engineering industry. And while there is some general concern over the possible job loss that may await those who are in the industry, this is (for now) merely speculation.
