One plus factor that LCD technology has is that it is very scalable. In the television industry alone, you can find 14"-30" as well as 40"-50" screens. That practically covers the entire spectrum of consumers. In other words, LCD TVs have buyers from class A, B, & C.

The price of liquid crystal display televisions sets are expected to go down further as companies like Sharp, Samsung, and LG introduce more lines. Taiwan's glass shortage is also slowly about to end. That would mean better bargains in LCD TVs in the near future.

In terms of energy consumption, liquid crystal display television sets are less demanding than plasma TVs. That would make them highly popular among today's green conscious buyers. Even though the largest wide screen displays really consume huge amounts of energy (regardless whether they're LCDs or plasmas), some buyers tend to feel they're helping save the environment by turning to the lesser evil.

A new entrant in the television market is threatening to pose a challenge to LCDs and plasmas. In the recent Ceatec electronics show in Tokyo, 3D television systems were able to drum up a lot of interest. But before liquid crystal display television sets and even plasma TVs can consider the new entrant a serious threat, 3D TV makers need to get rid of those goofy glasses first.

In the meantime, keeping your eyes open for the next LCD TV for sale would presently promise you the biggest bang for the buck.
