That is Benitez' job and he has shown that he cannot bring decent priced quality into the side. Spending good amounts of cash on Spanish defenders who quite frankly are no where near as good as Steve Warnock or even Darren Murphy. And where are all the youngsters coming through from what is supposed to be a very good youth set up, one would have to think hard, even as a Liverpool Kop to name more than one that may have stood out over the last two or three years. Players like Carragher, Gerrard and Owen are true class and one cannot find any good reason why more players of their stature come through, particularly at this time in the season where Liverpool look to be buying themselves out of trouble. At the start of the season you could get around 125-1 that Liverpool would not win anything this season, the best online bookmakers now have them at around 13/8 as their only real chance comes with the Europa League. The Premiership is still mathematically possible should Liverpool win all their remaining games.
