Luxury Appliances

Today, a stove is not just a stove nor a refrigerator a refrigerator. Appliances have become quite perfected over the years adding amazing value to those who are willing to pay a little extra. One might even go as far as to say they are luxury appliances.

What types of appliances are out there that are considered luxury and why?

Wolf appliances, now a part of Subzero, has been chosen by J.D. Power and Associates as number one for performance and design. Wolf is a brand that has been used in commercial restaurants and hotels for years and now has become a part of people's homes. There are a number of ranges one can choose from. You can have a built-in oven, range top, gas range, electric cook top or integrated modules. When picking out your stove, for instance, it can include a convection oven on one side and a non-convection on the other, brass burners, cast iron porcelain top grates, stainless steel pull out drip trays, and infrared broilers. Options can also include burner grates, French Top or an infrared griddle.

While Wolf is known for its heat, SubZero is known for its refrigeration. What can a refrigerator do above and beyond any other refrigerator? For one, it filters the air brought into the refrigerator so that it is always fresh. Using antimicrobial filtration systems based on NASA technology, the filter scrubs the air of bacteria, odors and contaminants. It also filters the water of sediments, additives such as chlorine, and reduces contaminants that cause viruses and bacteria. SubZero also cleans the air within the refrigerator from ethylene gases emitted from some foods such as apples. This gas can cause over-ripening and spoilage of other foods. Last, SubZero has a crisper crisper in that it's evaporator is moved to the lower portion of the refrigerator. Having the evaporator in a lower position efficiently channels cold air to the storage drawers while creating a special high humidity and low temperature zone for vegetables, fruits and meats.

SubZero is also known for its wine storage units. The units are digitally controlled to maintain temperature, humidity, UV protection and rest. Shelves glide out and are made of natural cherry wood for easy access of wine. Shelving accommodates standard 750 ml bottles, half-bottles and magnums.

AGA may not be a name you have heard of but this company has been winning awards for its ranges. The American Society of Interior Designers gave their Pro Range first place. AGA's ranges are unique in that they are known for employing cast iron construction and energy efficient heating. The Pro is considered the world's most versatile 36" self-cleaning pro oven on the market. AGA ranges include Pro, Legacy and Six-Four Series. These ranges come in a variety of enameled colors too, from Pistachio to Claret Red, which makes a fun addition to your kitchen.

Looking for something a bit European? Then you might want Gaggenau. This company is world known for its high-performance restaurant grade cooking technology for the modern home. Gaggenau specializes in cutting-edge built-in appliances such as ovens, gas, electric and induction cook-tops, dishwashers, refrigeration and wine storage units. Gaggenau products are sleek in appearance and made of only the highest quality materials such as tempered glass, brushed stainless steel and solid aluminum. Surfaces are then treated with glass beads to give them a matte finish and make them fingerprint resistant.

For German perfectionism, there is Miele. This company has been around for 107 years and are known for durability and reliability. The company makes ovens and refrigerators but also vacuums, dishwashers and more. Miele tests their products constantly and measure its durability against other leading manufacturers, ensuring it stays ahead of the pack. Miele may be best known for their built-in coffee-makers. The CVA 2662 provides espresso, 20 cup coffee capacity, custom programs, mutli-lingual LCD display, all in a stainless steel concealment.

Looking for the leader in design, that would be Dacor. Dacor's appliances are pieces of artwork in themselves. Patented features abound throughout their full line of cooking appliances. Dcor features include an infrared gas broiler inside an electric oven, a pure convection system for even heat distribution. Finishes come in stainless steel, chrome, brass, copper and black chrome.
