If you are like most people you decided to start an MLM business because you thought it would be easy, you'd be your own boss, operate online, have very little overhead and never really have to talk to anyone. The internet would take care of selling and recruiting people for you. A few quality articles, marketing in the right places and your business would explode, people would be beating down your door to buy what you have to offer or even better join your MLM downline and help you grow your business.

After you got started you should have realized that you are going to need to talk to people about your business. MLM recruiting is just as important as selling the product or service. The money is really in building the business to other like minded people that are hungry for success.

The key to growing your MLM business and expand your MLM downline is picking up the phone and talking to all of your potential prospects. Yes, you actually have to talk to them... but you have to do it the right way. There is an art to calling your prospects, an art that is in your best interest to learn.

You are a business person, think of yourself as the CEO of a multimillion dollar company, Microsoft or Apple. You need to get in that mindset so that when you are on the phone that air of confidence and authority is heard in your voice. Sit up straight at your desk, don't slouch... don't make your phone call while you are lying on the couch. You need to sound like someone your prospect would want to work with. Don't be a jerk, but be confident, be an authority.

Along with this you need to understand that you are not a sales person or a telemarketer. You a business developer, you aren't interested in selling your business to anyone. You are only interested in dealing with people that are truly interested in the business and want to be a part of it. Remember that and record yourself if you need to. Play it back- if you sound like a car salesman or a telemarketer, change your approach.

Second, realize that your MLM downline is essential to your success. This means that you don't want to take on just anyone that shows interest in your business. Too often MLM recruiters make the mistake in thinking that building their downline with able bodies is good enough. You want people that are going to take action, that are going to work the business. You aren't going to make money with a MLM downline that is not action orientated. Don't beg someone to join... and don't take on someone that seems wishy-washy about the business. You want people with desire, ambition and drive. Only take those people that meet those criteria.

Next, smile while you are on the phone. Believe it or not that smile carries through in your conversation. If you need to get a mirror and place it in front of the phone during your call, it can make all the difference in the world.

Have energy in your voice; be excited about what you are talking about. No not overzealous, but excited. If you don't have passion about what you are doing, how can you expect the person you are talking with to be excited about the business and want to join.
