The single biggest mistake people make is falling for the"Just buy a position, and sit back and collectlots ofmoney" promise. It's hard to believe people still fall for this but they do unfortunately. It IS true someone is making that money, but with no work invested on your part, itwont be you!If you are considering joining a business opportunity because someone told you all you have to do is get in and you will make money, DON'T!
The second biggest mistake isstarting a business partnershipwith an individual that does not knowany more than you about marketing, generating traffic, sales, add copy, lead generation, web sites, back links,blogs and on and on. Even if you are lucky enough to have discovered a fantastic opportunity with a great company, if you select thewrong sponsor, you greatly diminish your chances of success. If your sponsor does not know how to be successful, how can they teach you? They CAN'T!
The third biggest mistake is getting involved with a business opportunitynot fully realizing that you are getting ready to START A BUSINESS! That requires a time investment, a money investment, a learning commitment, if you don't have the time or money (not necessarily a lot of money, but there will be investments that need to be made.)to invest, or are not willing to make a commitment to learn the necessary skills needed to be successful, you are simply wasting time and money. Even with the best company and the best sponsor, if you are not willing or able to do your part, failure is imminent.
In my opinion, one of the largest challenges is finding an opportunity that offers you ALL the training and tools necessaryto your success without charging you an arm and a leg for it. As I talked about in a previous article, there arehordes of people out there willing to teach you what they say you need to know to succeed, for a fee. Don't fall for it.Think about this for a second. If you had a product that you wanted people to market for you, and you believed in that product,would you not want to do everything in your power to make sure that your "employees" had all the tools and information needed to represent your product to the best of their ability andbe as successful as possible?If an opportunity offers these essentials to you, but for a price, are they truly helping you become a better representative or are they just trying to make another buck? It's a fine line.
Believe it or not I even know of some companies that offer Personal Assistants. Paid professionals that close deals for you!! All you have to do is generate leads, and some will teach you how to do that. There is a huge gap between the companies that want to succeed with you, and the ones that want to succeed off you!
This one sounds simple but is actually very difficult for some. WORK SMART! Sounds simple right? Let me explain. Lets say that you have found two or more opportunities that have great products. (Products you would buy even without an income potential.) But their commission structure is different. How do you choose?Without getting into too much detail here or talking about specific company pay structures,here are five scenarios that existcurrently.
With opportunity #1 (a multiple board system)when you do the math (surprisingly most don't)to make $10,000 you and or your teamwould need to sign up215 people! That my friends is a lot of work for your 10K.
Opportunity #2 ( 3X9 Matrix ) you would need188 customers to make $10,000. Better, but still a lot of work.
Opportunity #3 ( Binary Comp Plan) 172 people. Better.
Opportunity #4 (2X2 Matix) 78 people to make $10,000.
Opportunity #5 (Linear Pay Plan) believe it or not, you would need only24 customers to make $10,000!! If you were able to sign up215 as in opportunity #1 instead of making $10,000, you would make $89,250.00! for THE SAME AMOUNT OF WORK!!
Assuming they all have great products and supply you with EVERYTHING you need to be successful, which opportunity would you choose?
Lets just say for sake of argument that you were able to find an opportunity that had an incredible product, with huge demand, and offered this product ata VERYreasonable price.
You could join this opportunity for a veryreasonable amount of money.
This company was wiling to produce for your benefit ALL the tools, and training you could possibly need to be successful free or at a very low cost.
You were lucky enough to find a sponsor with a proven track record,that is willing to help guide you in the right direction and help in any way they can. They truly want you to be successful, not just filling a spot on their board. They are smart enough to know your success is their success, and have the knowledge to get you there too.
This company would even provide Personal Assistants to help you close leads if you are new or inexperienced or simply are not a closer.
This opportunity also has the most lucrative pay plan available, insuring you are getting the maximum return on your INVESTMENT. Highest pay for least amount of work, or, best pay for same amount of work. Get that?
If you could "stumble" upon something like that, what do you think your chances of success with this company would be?
The trick, is sorting thru all the fly by night, here today gone tomorrow, money pits to find the true gems that are out there. They ARE out there.
The richest man in the world owns 5 MLM companies, so there are good ones out there.
If you have been burned before, from reading this article you probably know why. Use that knowledge. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back in the game. Don't let one (or maybe two) setbacks kill your dreams of being one of the lucky individuals that own their own highly successful small home business. It's worth it. Trust me.
