The reputed Maharashtra Board as an education system in the state of Maharashtra

has over the past many years produced a reasonable growth of intelligent students' and scholars who have gone on to make it big in the world. One of the better systems in the country when it comes to giving students a lot of breathing space, the board offers a variety of courses which enables a student to enter a field of his choice and accordingly prosper.

Maharashtra board offers complete education right from primary school to secondary school. This starts from standard 1 to standard 10. The final year school exams are held in the month of March, more famously known as Secondary School Certificate (SSC Board). Then comes college which gives one a chance of choosing from the three streams of arts, commerce and science. The higher secondary exams or HSC exams are conducted by Maharashtra Board in these three respective streams. Not the best of education boards but is competent enough in its own right. Maharashtra board has good structure of syllabus and text books which are high on knowledge and relatively easy for children to grasp.

Over the past decade there has been a steep rise in the SSC results in a positive manner. What is all the more pleasant is the fact that a striking number of girls when compared with boys are not only appearing but also passing with flying colors. The final year's SSC Syllabus is relatively easy on the children. The various subjects encompass a number of topics which are vast greatly benefiting the student. But the very structure of placing these chapters in student friendly manner sees children usually low on stress. The Maharashtra board sees to it that wholesome education is in the offing for students and in a simple non complicated manner. There are still the unavoidable few suicide cases taking place post results for there is still no shortage of depressed and stressed out students. None the less to give Maharashtra board it's fair enough credit it is doing every bit possible to avoid these tragic and hurtful circumstances. Parent and teacher pressure on the child is not tolerated for teachers are strictly warned not to physically hurt a child or depress him or her in any which ways.

An outstanding 80% of students appearing for their Maharashtra board exams in 2010 passed with flying colors. This is a nine percent increase of passing percentage when compared with the previous year. Although there is still a lot to be asked for in terms that a large population of children below poverty line in the poorer districts of Maharashtra are still illiterate. The study material or syllabus at times tends to get out dated and not in sync with the contemporary times. Maharashtra board seems to have also not given much heed to the increasing number of coaching classes and private tuitions which charge parents a fortune. Last but not the least, school teachers are still not paid sufficiently enough. This is one of the major reasons for school teachers not giving their complete dedication to the students.
