Maintenance Tips For Your Top-mount Refrigerator

The type of refrigerator that is the easiest to maintain is arguably the top-mount refrigerator

. Its features are quite simple and you don't have to worry about maintaining a lot of modern parts. Moreover, it does not break down quite easily.

Top-mount refrigerators are ideal for those who have a limited kitchen space. This machine does not take up a lot of space. It has a small footprint. However, it still provides the storage space that you need. If you have medium storage needs, you can try purchasing this type of refrigerator.

If you want to keep it in top shape, here are some tips you would want to try:

1. Clean the coils at the back of the fridge.

You might have to slide the back panel of the fridge. The coils are usually located behind the black panel at the back of the refrigerator. Remove cobwebs or accumulated dirt. You can use a shopvacuum machine to get rid of accumulated debris. This will ensure that the machine will work well in exhausting hot air. In doing so, you can conserve energy. If the machine does not exhaust hot air well, it will consume more energy to keep the internal temperature cold.

2. Clean the drip pan at the bottom of the machine.

Remove the panel located at the bottom part of the machine. This should be right below the fridge door. You can find the drip pan there. The excess water from the refrigerator is transferred to the drip pan. Empty the pan to avoid the production of molds or mildew. Regularly removing collected water will also prevent leaks.

3. Keep the machine clean all the time.

Immediately wipe off stains. Use a damp cloth to wipe away stains. Stains can be a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. Also clean jars and bottles before putting them back in the fridge. Make sure there are no residues at the bottom part of the jar or the bottle.

Remove spoiled foods. Do a regular inspection of the contents of your refrigerator. When storing, you might want to label the items so you will know when you prepared or purchased them and when they should be discarded. This will make clean-up much easier.

4. Check the rubber gasket for signs of air leaks.

Make sure the rubber gasket seals the door properly. If cold air is escaping from your refrigerator, the machine will have trouble maintaining the right internal temperature. Replace bad rubber gasket.

Keeping your top-mount refrigerator in top shape should not be difficult. With the help of these tips, you can prolong the life of your reliable fridge.
