The center is a premier facility, offering programs that raise awareness and provide education about the environment. The center has an art gallery, 24 acres of agricultural fields, a stunning view of the Sandia Mountains, and a permanent exhibit space as well. Furthermore, there are cozy indoor and outdoor viewing areas showing the views of wildlife and Sandhill cranes and other migratory birds during their fall and winter migratory season al year around to onlookers. The harvest festival after the summers is also entertaining. Several varieties of traditional gardens is a splendid outdoor exhibit where one can see arroyo gardens, pebble gardens, olla gardens and the waffle garden, each constructed to harvest as much water as possible. If you have the kids with you, inside the Center there are programs too for the children, like puppet shows, origami, and coloring pages. The center is open throughout the year and invites everyone for awareness.

Albuquerque Vacations - Petroglyph National Monument

Stretching 17 miles along Albuquerque, the Petroglyph National Monument has more than 15,000 prehistoric and historic Native American, and Hispanic petroglyphs or images carved in rock. It protects a wide array of cultural and natural resources including volcanoes, archeological sites and an estimated 24,000 carved images!The carved images depict different things and even intricate images. The Visitor Center at the monument is the best place to start your visit, where the staff members will help you orient to your visit of the magnificent site. There are regularly scheduled ranger-led walks during the summer months, along with group and school tours by request throughout the year. After seeing the carved rock images, one must head out to see the habitats, followed by a hike, or a picnic or camping. Different forms of plantations have grown and adapted in the desert in this area to join the ecosystems. The climate around the area is arid with abundant sunshine, low humidity and scanty precipitation. This attraction is best for nature-lovers.


Albuquerque Vacations - Rio Grande Valley State Park


Established in 1983, the Rio Grande Valley State Park is a 4,300-acre park, which extends from Sandia Pueblo in the north through Albuquerque and south to Isleta Pueblo. The beautiful park comprises of massive cottonwood trees, coyote willow, and New Mexico olive trees which bring a shady feel to the area. But because of it, habitats for beavers, many bird species, turtles, and snakes are formed here. Along with the breathtaking view of the site, one can venture the region by hiking, bicycling, mountain biking, in-line skating and horseback riding. The Paseo del Bosque paved trail is excellent for hikes as it runs along the east side of the river, or one can head out along the natural surface trail beneath the cottonwood trees. Boating, kayaks, canoes, rafts and other non-motorized water vehicles can be enjoyed here too. Places to see while at the park are the Rio Grande Open Space, Calabacillas, Arroyo, Shining River Parking Area, Rio Grande Nature Center, Peublo Montano Picnic Area and Trailhead, Rio Bravo Riverside Picnic Area, Fishing Pier and Nature Trail, Rio del Norte Picnic Area, and the Aldo Leopold Interpretive Trail and Forest. You must see the Rio Grande Valley State Park which stands against the Rio Grande River on your vacation to Albuquerque.
