Making Warcraft Gold – The Cost of Levelling Your Characters

Now I'm level 63 i'll pop back to the auction house and get some new gear. Get an extra 1.2 DPS on my main weapon and I could do with some new boots, these are three levels old now. Sound familiar? I'll bet even if you don't go back to the auction houseevery level, you probably buy far more stuffthan you need to. Warcraft is a balanced game, but over the past two years in particular it has got easier to level. The calculations for damage have been subtly weighted towards the player, the experience points required to level have been lowered slightly, the amount of rested bonus increased, and the speed it accumulates also increased. All in all it now takes only slightly longer to get to 80 now than it used to take to get to level 60. So why do you need the latest gear all the time? You really don't. Warriors and Paladins (and to a lesser extent Hunters) perhaps need the most gear updates, but even these classes can afford to be an average of 3 levels behind in every slot. By the time they get to level 20 your gear can be mostly level 17 and perhaps 5 levels behind at level 50. This should mean never buying a piece of equipment from the auction house (and I mean never!) Over the course of advancing through 5 levels, you will gain items for just about every slot through quest rewards. These will be predominantly green items, with the odd blue thrown in for completing more taxing quest chains. These rewards will be items you can use immediately. Mob drops (if you are grinding at an appropriate level) will often start several level requirements below your current level. Quest rewards on the other hand offer very good stats for your current level. Consider the economics. Be a seller not a buyer. At high level you will want all the gold you can get. But the message here is to always quest. Grinding does not generally offer you usable equipment, also, questing experience does not diminish your rested status, and of course offers a healthy XP bump every time you hand one in. Not only that the game's back-story and lore is "told" through quests. Professions are advanced and big material gains are made. All through questing. So leave grinding and farming to others. Get out and quest, enjoy the game, and save your gold for the end game - you'll need it. Good LuckAbout the Author:
