Each room of your house needs a mini makeover before any prospective buyer comes to view it
. After all, you need to make your house look as attractive as possible and show it off in the best possible light.
Firstly you need to de-clutter. Seeing old magazines scattered around, hundreds of ornaments overcrowding mantle pieces and shoes piled high in the hall does not do anything for the look of the rooms. You need to maximise what youve got and give the impression of space. If you need to, pack things away in boxes and put them up in the loft or in the cellar just to get them out of the way. The buyers needs to be able to imagine themselves in the property and this is easier to visualise if there is less of your clutter around.
Of course, the place does need to look homely. Plants are a good way of adding some colour and depth to a room, as well as well-placed photo frames. Photos can make the house look family orientated which is what many buyers may want to see.
Make sure your bathroom is clean and free of half empty bottles of shampoo or shower gel try making it look clean cut such as those as roca bathrooms or vitra bathrooms. You may need to replace a bath panel if it has cracked and try updating to crosswater taps as a cheap way to modernise your bathroom.
The kitchen needs to look useable. Ensure the washing up has been done and there is plenty of work space clean and clear of food or plates. If you cook something an hour before a buyer arrives, it is a good idea not to go for potent foods on that day, as the buyer will get an immediate impression and it needs to be a good one.
An old piece of advice is to cook some bread, but obviously this is far from practical for everyone!
