Making Yourself Over With Hair Extensions At Your Salon

Most women find that they have a day here or there where they want to look different

. Usually, at that point, they head to their local salon and have the hair stylist at the hair salon give them a cut or a color. But there come a time when you've had everything done that you could have done. You've cut, you've colored, you've even streaked, and you're not happy with the way that your hair is right now. But how do you get your hair to look different if you've already done it all? Especially when you want to have longer hair but don't want to wait years for it to grow.

Getting Extensions

The big thing that you'll see right now in most hair salons is extensions. People are realizing how much hair extensions can change their look, giving them a makeover almost instantly. But many aren't quite sure what a hair extension even is! Hair extensions are lengths of hair that are attached to your existing hair to give you longer locks. The hair is either real or synthetic, although most salon stylists will only use real hair, and it can be a variety of different colors. The extensions range from large pieces, which can make your hair fall all the way down your back, to smaller pieces which simply give your hair more volume. It can be attached a variety of ways, but the most common way is for the stylist to braid your hair straight to your scalp and to weave the new extensions into the braid, giving you long locks without having to glue or clamp anything down.

Proper Care

When you get extensions, the stylist at your hair salon will tell you how to take care of the extensions properly, so that you get the most out of your extensions. Proper care means that you can have the extensions for up to six months. Some have their extensions in even longer! Make sure that you follow along with everything that your stylist tells you to do, or else your expensive extensions may fall out far sooner than you want them to.

Being Creative

One of the really fun things about hair extensions is how creative you can be with them. First of all they'll definitely give you a new look simply by having longer locks, but you don't have to stop with just long hair. You can have curly extensions put in, but remember that you'd have to curl your regular hair to have it look different. You can also have extensions that are a different color put in.
