Mamma Mia! is a popular jukebox musical that is entirely based on the songs of ABBA and follows the lives of three strong women. The plot takes place on a Greek island and concerns the marriage of Sophie. The bride-to-be has a dream that her father will be able to give her away, but she is faced with a glitch: she doesn't know who her dad is. After discovering a list of three men in her mother's diary, she sends an invitation to each, believing that one of them has to be her real dad.

The drama really begins to unfold when Sophie's mother, Donna, runs into her ex-lovers shortly after they arrive for the wedding festivities. She seeks comfort in the arms of her two good friends, who try to cheer her up with one of ABBA's most well-known song, "Dancing Queen." As the big day gets closer, it doesn't get any clearer which of the three men (Bill, Harry or Sam) Sophie's dad really is and the bride, her mom and all of the men in question are becoming increasingly confused as to how to handle the awkward situation. Book a seat at an upcoming performance to find out the ending.

All of the musical numbers included in the production are courtesy of ABBA, which some of the most recognizable ballads being: "Dancing Queen," "Super Trouper," "Money, Money, Money," and of course, "Mamma Mia."

ABBA became one of the most commercially successful pop groups of the 1970s, with one of their first international hits, "S.O.S.," landing on the charts in both the United States and Britain. Follow-up songs included: "Mamma Mia," "Fernando" and "Dancing Queen," with the latter ballad capturing the top spot on American charts.

The group's popularity continued into the end of the decade with "Knowing Me" and "The Name of the Game." They even had the opportunity to star in the feature film, ABBA - The Movie in 1978. Not too long afterwards, however, the band decided to call it quits, with each member pursing a solo project. None of the band members could achieve the same success and fame as they had with ABBA, though. These days the work of the Swedish pop stars has touched a whole new generation of music fans around the world.
