With the interest in mixed martial arts, it should be no surprise that fans do whatever they can to be like their heroes

. There is just something about the fight to survive, to be on top; it resonates with who they would like to be. The fans decorate whatever space they can however they can; because of this, and because those fans wear clothes, there is an interest in martial arts patches.

Most fans don't just buy one or two; they buy enough to decorate an entire jacket. They find patches of their hero's league, those of the hero himself, and even those of his rivals; it is important that they have as many icons of their hero as they can, and MMA patches definitely allow that. It's not that hard to understand, as fans feel personally invested in the success of their heroes, linked to him through their dreams and desires. It is a link that the fighters encourage, especially as their success is dependent at least partially on that link; it not only fuels ticket sales but can also fuel their will to fight at times.

A patch isn't just the thread and glue it is made of. It is a solid reminder of the link between hero and fan, and a way for both to connect. For the hero it only matters when they see a lot of them in a crowd; for the fan, the MMA patches remind him constantly of the link between their dreams and their hero.
