I noticed that my friends and colleagues who are designers, developers and online marketing teams all had their preferences for an ideal workstation. There used to be a standard model but it didnt work for everyone. Now people are aware of the options in choosing their own set up and a happy designer is better equipped to build top website designs. If their workstations arent comfortable, its only a matter of time before productivity and morale is affected.

Tava A. is a fan of the large chair. She uses a standard keyboard and wireless mouse but rarely uses her mouse as a content architect. Otherwise, she would opt for a trackball. Walking by Tavas workstation she looks comfortable and relaxed. Last year, she set goal to stand up and stretch at least 5 times a day and she has been pretty good about maintaining that practice. This is something I remember being talked about 10 or 15 years ago but I havent seen it take off amongst the web designers ny that I know or have worked with. Nicole says that she sits on the train and subway, and at home. She didnt want to be someone who sat for more than half the day and it took some getting used to but now she loves it. One thing that she did to make it more effective was to buy a gel mat to stand on and the high heels come off as soon as she arrives.
