Martina McBride and her Popular yet Inspirational New Country Songs

Signing up under RCA records in the year 1991, she made her debut the 1992 as a "neo-traditionalist country single" due to her single, "The Time has Come".

In the year 1997 she released her fourth album entitled, "Evolution". This paved the way for her slot in country-pop music industry. As she followed the ranks of Shania Twain and Faith Hill to stardom, she made a string of hit singles and made it on top of the Billboard country chart. She even made it on adult contemporary chart.

In 2007, she was awarded:

? Top Grossing Country Artist of the Year

? Top Grossing Female in 2007

Aside from singing, Martina McBride devoted another side of her to various charities. At current, she is spokeswoman for:

? National Domestic Violence Hotline

? National Network to End Domestic Violence

? Tulsa Violence & Intervention Services

She also worked at Kids Wish Network to fulfill a young girl's wish. At the time, the girl was dying from muscular dystrophy.

In 2003, McBride was given the "Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award". This is for her devotion on issues regarding domestic violence, especially on children and women. In one of her songs, "Concrete Angel", she touches a deep issue - domestic abuse in children.

"Concrete Angel"

This song is performed by McBride and co-produced by both McBride and Paul Worley. It was released in year 2002 as part of McBride's 2001 album named "Greatest Hits". This song reached #5 on the Billboard country music charts.

The song is a power ballad. It focuses on child abuse. It talks about a 7-year old girl who tries to deal with abuse every single day from her alcoholic mother. The song goes that even though other people such as the child's teacher notice signs of abuse, they continue to ignore these signs until one day; the little girl dies from severe trauma due to physical abuse.

The song also mentions that the little girl (Angela Carter in the video) has one friend - a little boy who is already dead (ghost). One night, when Angela's mother catches her talking to herself on her window, she was severely beaten. With so much to bear, the little girl passes away. The video even shows police cars and an ambulance going to her house.

Then the video shifts to the grave of the little girl with a group of people such as her teachers and the little boy who befriended her (the ghost). From there, the little boy takes Angela to another group of children and they run off in the horizon as if free from all cares in the world.

Both the song and the video invoked deep emotion to its listeners and viewers. It is a very touching country song. At the end of the video, they also featured the child abuse hotline number. It has encouraged viewers to make a stand and report child abuse cases before it's too late.
