Maruti A-star Automatic @ Rs 4,34,535
The countrys biggest car maker Maruti has launched the automatic version of its hatchback A-star
. The company has almost 50 per cent of the total market share in the country and thus its move into the automatic transmission arena is a significant one.The automatic version and the manual version look almost similar and there are no changes in terms of design. The rear AT badge looks like the only differentiating factor between the two versions. The new Maruti A-Star automatic is claimed to have a fuel economy of 17kmpl, as per ARAI tests. Maruti A Star has a four speed autobox, which is expected to deliver a satisfactory performance. The Maruti A Star autobox can be driven in four modes L, 2, D-3 and D. The L and 2 mode are meant for city traffic conditions. The D-3 and D meant for high speed driving. The Maruti A-Star AT is claimed to hit 100kmph in D-3 and 140kmph in D.
Apart from the AT element Maruti A Star automatic, which comes in VXi variant, also has height adjustable driver seat and ABS among other features. Maruti has priced the A Star Automatic at Rs 4,34,535, which is Rs 49,908 more than manual driven Maruti A-Star VXi.
The interiors of the car are also similar, apart from the obvious changes in the auto gear stick with different modes and the absence of clutch pedal and instrument panel which show the modes of automatic.
Both the automatic and manual Maruti A-Star cars have the same engine capable of generating 67PS at 6200rpm and 90Nm of peak torque at 3500rpm.
