Meeting Held To Review The Working Of Coir Board

, Ministry of MSMEs, recently held a meeting with the chairman of the Coir Board to review the working of the Board and also to discuss the measures undertaken in the current financial year for the development of SMEs in the sector.

The review meeting was held to monitor the progress of the implementation of schemes designed for promoting the growth of SMEs in the coir sector, said a senior government official.

Mr Patel asked the chairman of the Coir Board to put in sincere efforts to ensure the successful implementation of various schemes, particularly Mahila Coir Yojna, Rejuvenation, Modernisation & Technology Upgradation of the Coir Industry (REMOT) and Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI).

Higher growth of small-scale units in the coir sector can be achieved only if the government ensures proper implementation of the proposed schemes, said M Balan, proprietor of Balaji Coir Products, a small-sized coir exporting unit in Kerala.

Mr Patel has also asked the Coir Board to formulate a time-bound action plan that would help it to achieve desired results in terms of both utilisation of allotted funds and achievement of physical targets for the sector.
