Men's Fashion Basics- How To Perfect The Business Casual Look

The rules of dressing for the office have changed radically over the years and it

has become infinitely more difficult to dress properly in the new, more casual business environment. In men's fashion, a two or three piece suit used to be the typical outfit that any man would automatically wear when they went to work. Unless they wore uniforms or needed specific clothing for the job, men in white collar positions would usually don a suit.

Now, however, the office is a far more casual place and so finding a good balance between casual dressing and still looking professional and ready to meet with clients. Men's fashion experts say that you should always dress for the job you want instead of the job that you want, but balancing this without seeming out of place in a more casual office is difficult. Here are a few tips that you can use to perfect your business casual look.

The first thing that you need to remember is that the type of industry you are working in will affect how casual you can get. More casual or creative industries can get away with being a little more casual than a more formal and traditional workplace. For example, if you are a graphic designer or writer, you may be able to look a bit more relaxed than if you work in the legal or financial fields.

You want to think about looking clean and well-put together. If there is the chance you will meet with clients, it can make sense to dress a little more formally so that you put forth the impression of being polished and professional. On days when you are not meeting with clients, you can look a little more relaxed.

However, relaxed does not mean dressing like you would be going to a bar or nightclub or working in the garage on a Saturday morning. You can never get away with wearing dirty clothes or pieces of clothing with holes or tears in them.

In order to rock the business casual look, consider pairing a great pair of trousers with a more relaxed top. The trousers can be a bit more relaxed than formal dress pants but they should be clean and pressed. You can pair them with a men's dress shirt but no tie or you can look at pairing it with a less formal top as well.

Another option is to pair a great dark trouser jean with a top that is more formal. Consider a great dark wash jean with a dress shirt and tie and a blazer or suit jacket. Light colored jeans or ones with acid wash or tons of embellishment are not suitable for the office.

When looking at the business casual look for men's fashion, you can be more casual on either the top or the bottom but not both. By going to casual in either area you may end up looking completely uncoordinated and this is never a good thing when you are dressing to impress.
