Metal Casting Using The Investment Casting Technique

. The usage of Casting as a engineering process by which a liquid metal is typically poured into a mold, which contains a hollow cavity in the desired shape, and then allowed to cool has allowed for the reproduction of identical items when generated from the same source mold (or mould).

The final result or solidified component is also known as a "casting", which is removed from the mould (sometimes broken out of the mould) to complete the metal casting process. Added to this elementary definition of Metal Casting there are other categories of this approach, namely Expendable and Non-expendable Casting which can be further sub divided by the material utilized for the mould and the pouring method used to construct the metal cast.

Examples of these sub-categories are Sand Casting, Lost Wax, Gravity, Vacuum and Low Pressure Casting. All of these methods have been developed and enhanced over the centuries to provide a broad choice of processes with their resultant casts they are ideally suited to deliver the cost effective manufacturing of a metal object that would typically be too difficult to build in any other manner. For that reason the oldest surviving metal casting (a frog from 3200BC) was just one of many items that its creators manufactured using Metal Casting when no other way seemed possible, and this carries on right now.
