Polycystic ovarian syndrome (pcos) is responsible for infertility in women
. Such women does not release eggs regularly and thus have irregular menstrual periods. The ovaries have antral follicles i.e. small cysts of 2-7mm diameter. These small cysts give the characteristics of polycystic to the ovaries. The latest research has shown that the ovulation problem in women suffering from polycystic syndrome can be cured by metformin. Some of the experts have also figured out that pcos can be cure effectively through this medication. Sometimes clomid along with metformin is used for ovulation and pregnancy. Metformin is also used in women going through vitro fertilization for pcos and those having very high counts of antral follicle. This medication used in women causes side effects which includes cramping, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort and nausea.
