Mindset to Stop Being Controlled by Your Depression and Achieve Self Control
Do you sometimes get like a tangible "drop" in your stomach, that you perceive as "okay, now I am going to get depressed..", and then you DO get depressed? I think this is very common - and, more than that, extremely annoying. And what makes it even more severe, is making this a habit. Because that destroys your life. But not necessarily. Here is why.
You need to realize that this drop in your stomach does not MAKE you feel all these things. It could not. You are perceiving it as something that controls you, but how could it? Is it an alien that takes over your body? Yeah, it might feel like it, but IS it? That is the question. If you are rational for a moment... does it control your body, or does it not control your body? This is like being scared of crashing with a plane. You do not look at the actual facts, of how often a plane crashes, before going into a panic. If you do not know for a fact that that sound in a plane means bad news, or that that kind of turbulence is deadly, then you have no reason to panic. There are hundreds of thousands of flights every day, and how often do you hear a plane crash? Even if it was once a day - which it certainly is not, to my knowledge - then the risk of your plane crashing is 1/100 000. There are a lot of things in life, that are dangerous, that have a higher risk of happening. Is the risk that the drop in your stomach is a creature that controls your mind something to worry about?
Now that we have cleared the actual risk of the drop in your stomach being a living entity that has control over you, let us go into the nature of this drop. Realize that you have associated a meaning to the drop, that has nothing to do with the actual drop - the drop being a chemical being released or something similar. The drop is temporary - it happens and then disappears. It does not make you bleed and does not make insert a virus in you that kills you. It does nothing. It does not set off those thoughts - the perceived meaning you have, is what does that. What you believe, with certainty, sends signals between your mind and body, and fulfills your belief. You act as if the drop makes you depressed, so you become depressed because of THAT, and not because of some magical connection between the drop and "being depressed."
