Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees MLB Free Picks
The poor Twins might be just 6-30 over the course of their last 36 trips to the Bronx and 18-57 over the last 75 meetings against the Yankees, but that isn't going to damper their spirits in this one. They know that they finally got back on track on Sunday for their first win of the season at the Toronto Blue Jays, and now, they are going to count on Scott Baker to keep them in the win column to kick off this series.
Baker couldn't stop the Yanks in his one start against them last season, but he really didn't get a heck of a lot of help either in a 1-0 loss. This righty has proven that he can be a consistent arm for Manager Rod Garden hire to rely on. No, Baker's numbers aren't remarkable, but he is seemingly always getting the job done. He went 12-9 last year with a 4.49 ERA.
He has always had relatively good control, as he has never walked more than 48 batters in a season, something that is really going to come in handy against a very patient New York lineup. Minnesota is one of the few teams in the game that didn't even pick up a single quality start over the course of the weekend.
In typical New York fashion, the Yanks scored 23 runs to outslug the Tigers in two of the first three games of the season, and they'll hope to keep this up to end this seven game home stand. Mark Teixeira already has three long balls and has an OPS of 1.512 to start the year off, and he is clearly one of the hottest bats in the league.
It's a good thing that he and the rest of the New York bats are humming right now, because Ivan Nova is going to need all of the help that he can get to survive this one. Nova's second career outing came in relief against these Twins in this venue last May, and he allowed just two hits in a scoreless inning of work.
The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins each start their second series of the MLB Free Picks season on Monday night in a nationally televised MLB betting battle on ESPN.
He only has one career win and is 1-2 to show for his seven career starts (10 total outings). Nova has struck out 26 men in 42 innings, but he has also walked 17 batters. This is a huge first start for the 24 year old, as he is going to be counted on to nail down the back end of this rotation this year, and odds have it, he'll probably be called upon should New York end up in the playoffs as well.
Minnesota just doesn't have it against the Yankees, and even though Nova really doesn't have a heck of a lot of experience, these MLB odds are just too good to ignore. Back the Bronx Bombers to do their thing once again at home in another offensive explosion.
