Mobile WiMAX R2 can support speeds of both 120-Mbit/s downlink and 60 Mbit/s uplink per site

On Thursday, the IEEE formally approved IEEE 802.16m, also known as the next generation of mobile WiMAX technology, or Mobile WiMAX Release 2.

The technology, also known as WirelessMAN, offers a significant jump from the current WiMAX technology, based on the 802.16e standard.
