Most Powerful Character in The World of Warcraft

Who is the most powerful character in the World of Warcraft (WoW)? This question has raised many debates across gaming forums. Each player has their own idea of what justifies a character to be the most powerful. Some characters have a large part in the direction of the WoW universe while others possess vast powers that can cripple an opponent. This article is my take upon the most powerful character.

Being powerful is a relative term. Beings such as Sargeras possess powers that make any other powerful opponent (Thrall) seem meek in comparison. For the sake of this article, we will leave out godlike beings such as Sargeras or the Old Gods. That leaves us with the "mortal" beings as our Most Powerful Character contestants.

The "mortal" beings include a variety of figures such as Thrall, Medivh, and Malfurion. I say "mortal" because these characters can sometimes live thousands of years. So, without further adoI present my list of the top five Most Powerful Characters of Wow.

1. Medivh: Medivh is the mage/warlock archetype. He has an incredible influence on the direction of many pivotal points in Azeroth's history. He was known as The Last Guardian before his "death". The major argument for Medivh being the most powerful is that he was inhabited by Sargeras. Medivh is so powerful that he was able to defeat Sargeras and drive him from his mind eventually after many years of resisting his influence.

2. Queen Azshara: Azshara is queen of the naga. She was forced into the sea thousands of years ago by Malfurion. Azshara has the chance to be at the top because of Mannoroth refusing to attack her. He believed that only Sargeras, Archimonde, or Kiljaeden could best Azshara in combat.

3. The Lich King: The Lich King (Arthas) is one of the most well-known and feared beings Azeroth has ever known. The Lich King was originally Nerzhul before he betrayed Kiljaeden and merged with Arthas. The Lich King had sat on the Frozen Throne and controlled his undead minions from there. The Lich King was recently destroyed by adventurers and another took Arthas' place as the Lich King. The Lich King wields an enormous amount of power. He controls the forces of The Scourge. He has also lain waste to opponents such as Illidan (while still Arthas).

4. Malfurion: Malfurion was the first mortal druid and is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Malfurion Stormrage is a driving force in WoW lore. He is the twin brother of Illidan Stormrage. Malfurion battled Azshara to a standstill. During this battle, the Well of Eternity was destroyed and the land was forever changed. Remarkably, Malfurion survived this catastrophic destruction.

5. Thrall: Thrall was the warchief of the horde. He conceded that title to join the Earthen Ring and truly become a shaman. Thrall is currently the most powerful shaman alive. He can be found at the edge of the Maelstrom attempting to repair the damage caused by Deathwing. Thrall has defeated Orgrim Doomhammer as well as assisting Grom Hellscream with the defeat of Mannoroth.

All five of the contestant have a claim to being the Most Powerful Character in WoW. Unfortunately, there can be only one (Highlander reference for the youngsters). I believe that Medivh embodies all the characteristics that make up the Most Powerful Character. Medivh scares even Sargeras and Deathwing. Supposedly Medivh is dead, but that has been said about him before.
