Do you want to be a tank whose job is to rush in and take the majority of the damage from the enemy while also trying to deal as much damage as possible? Do you want to sit back and try to deal as much damage as possible? Or do you want to be the team player and be the healer that keeps everyone from dying(mainly the tank)?

If your choice was tank, then your best option is to be a warrior, although a paladin can do a decent job as well because of its survivability.

If you chose damage dealer then you have a few more decisions to make. You could also be a warrior, shaman, priest, or druid because each of those classes have damage dealing capabilities.

If you want to be a healer then your best option is a priest, although you COULD be a restoration druid or a restoration shaman I personally believe that the priest is the best healer class.

Once you have your class decided you have to pick which race you want to be. To decide this, just pick alliance or horde and then my best advice is to just pick the one that you think looks the coolest. In my opinion, human is my favorite for the Alliance, and Tauren is my favorite for Horde. They are all fun though!

After ALL that you must decide either Player v Player or a normal surver. On a player v player server, after you reach level 20 your quests start bringing you into "contested areas." These are areas which both the Horde and the Alliance can travel to, and when there they can attack each other. This can be very difficult and annoying to new players. I would suggest that new players play on a normal server first to get used to the game. Then, you can either start a new character or transfer your character to a player v player realm to experience some real excitement! No matter which one you choose, it is guaranteed to be tons of fun with hours and hours of gameplay.

The great thing is that if you are unhappy with your decision, you can make a new character later! The possibilities are limitless!
