It's always preferential to use boxes instead of bags as they are easier to stack and bags tend to get torn. Make sure that you mark any boxes as fragile if they contain breakables, so that when you are lifting it into the van you are extra careful. Be especially careful with your soft furnishings as it is easy to catch them on the way out or in and rip the materials. Ensure you have content insurance for your new property that covers all your belongings, including furniture and appliances, and as well as personal effects. If you have an existing policy then check to see if you are covered for your new property and the amount of possessions you have.
