My Grandpa Went Fishing - Fishing With Geese!
My Grandpa Went Fishing - Fishing With Geese!
I love my grandpa, I really do. I used to spend long time with him when I was young, he was always supporting me and try to amuse me all the time. He took me to watch football matches, theatres, cinemas and of course Fishing..
If you think I will continue now describing the good times I spent with him, or all the places and activities we shared together, then you are on the wrong article. Maybe some other day I will think of talking about this, because I really have a lot of appreciation to him. But sorry Grandpa, I need to tell the world how much fun being with you in a fishing trip or even hearing you telling never-ending tales of Fishing.
I need just to add that my Grandpa has his fellows fisher men, he knew them from different places and in different occasions, but always this friendship happens on the sea board or near some fresh water lake, while he was catching fish (at least that is what he wish to do... catch fish)
In Grandpa's theory about fishing.. "You always need to explore new places, the most far and hard to reach the place, the better is would be the chance to catch more and bigger fish"...claims my Grandpa with a special wink when he reaches the "bigger fish" phrase, at least that was his theory. The reason is..."In far places, specially isolated ones, the fish will be starving for fresh bait... "adds my grandpa in a very informative way.
Following his first theory, Grandpa wakes up very early in the morning, and decides to explore a new place and catches the biggest fish ever. He knew the route to a farm near to a fresh water lake and thought that it would be one of his best discoveries. he called his fellow fisherman the day before and agreed with him to head in the very early morning to this fantastic farm location. "Don't tell anyone about this farm until we try it first..." said my Grandpa to his fellow fisherman. This is my Grandpa's second theory, to gain all the glory when he really find fish at that new place, the he can spread the word to rest of fishermen.
The new location was far enough, that Grandpa and his fellow needed to get in many means of transportations to reach it. In one of this means he met a farm woman who was carrying a goose with her! Yes a goose, anyway the woman had a problem that she forgot her money and didn't know how to pay for the ride, but my Grandpa was so kind-hearted that he offered to pay for the woman and it is over. The woman refused! Yes, her dignity prevented her from accepting Grandpa's offer. Grandpa's fellow whispered to my Grandpa not to involve himself more than that, but Grandpa insisted. The woman told Grandpa that she was heading to the local market to sell the 'goose', so if he wanted to help her, he can buy the goose from her, that's the only way she would accept his help.
Fellow very surprised to Grandpa: "What are we going to do with a live goose in a fishing trip?!"
Grandpa: "I have no idea, but I can not leave this woman in trouble..."
Fellow still not believing: "And where you will put it, and How you will Carry it?!"
Grandpa after thinking a while: " No Problem, I can out the goose inside the bag and let her neck out of the zipper.. " then he continued seriously: "Then we can let the goose swim in the water when we reach the lake.." he added happily with the solution he found:" The goose will not have a problem spending the day in the fresh water swimming.."
Fellow knowing that as usual he will not manage to convince Grandpa:"Ok, does whatever satisfy you."
Deal was done, the woman was happy, Grandpa was satisfied with this result and fellow was still surprised, having the feeling that it is not the end and the day has just started!
Finally they reached the lake, Grandpa let the goose in the lake, making sure it will not swim away and they started getting their fishing tools ready to start the new discovery. After a while in the sun, without catching a single fish..As usual...it was the time for the farm geese to get into the lake for a swim. Grandpa decided that they need to change the place maybe they can find fish in another spot of the lake, and Grandpa put the goose again in his bag and started to move.
But... for his surprise, problems start to happen. An old man from the farm saw the goose in Grandpa's bag, and sure he thought that Grandpa's is stealing the goose..!!!
Old Man: "Hey, what are you doing with this goose?"
Grandpa: "It is my goose; I bought it this morning...!"
Old Man not believing: "Bought it from where?"..Then resumed angrily "I know the geese of the farm, this is ours..."
Grandpa tried to explain the situation to the Old Man, with no prove of anything that he was saying and the Old man was not buying the story. The situation was getting more complicated. Grandpa found no solution for this situation but to leave his goose to the Old Man.
Grandpa: "Ok, take the goose; I will not have to argue with you more than this..."
The Old man: "This is better for all, we have more than 10 geese and this is one of them". The man took the goose and was heading away from Grandpa but suddenly he heard the voice of a young girl shouting from a distance to the Old Man: "Dad, we found our goose, this goose is not ours...!"
And it turned out that this Old Man has only one goose!! That was missing, this urged Grandpa to blame the Old Man for lying to him and wasting his time and delaying him from his "Great Fishing Time!!!"
But where is Grandpa's fellow during this fight?! Grandpa starts looking for his fellow, to found out that he crossed a small bridge and went to the other side of the lake waiting for the fight to end!
Grandpa: "That was really supportive..."
Fellow could not stop laughing replied: "I told you from the beginning we don't need a goose in a fishing trip".
Grandpa: "At least you could have stranded with me..."
Fellow: "I am an old man enough for these fights..." then added while his laughing is getting louder: "and we didn't complete our discovery yet"...
Grandpa bursting in laugh:"we were not lucky today, although I am sure that this lake has tons of fish...!"
Fellow: "Yeah, and tons of geese.... let's go home before someone else discover that his goose disappeared."
Grandpa: "fine, but we will have our exploration some other day".
And that was the end of one the endless fishing trips of my Grandpa and his fellows.
