My Trip Back To Boarding School
It was a Saturday morning and I was awake before the sun rose
. This is something which would never happen if it wasnt for the road trip to Panchgani me and another friend, Vikas, had planned the previous night. As I walked to my window I could see the colour of the sky slowly changing as the sun was coming up. It was beautiful and made me question the time I woke up everyday. I was surprised to get a call from vikas, as I thought I would have to call him time after time and maybe go and physically wake him up. I had already finished packing my duffle bag the previous night and was all set to leave. We met below my building at around 6.30am and loaded up the car with our luggage, my small duffle bag, Vikas
shoulder bag and other things we were carrying with us. Panchgani was around 240km from Mumbai and we aimed to reach there in little over 5 hours including any pit stops we made along the way.
As we drove out of my building, the first thing we did was drive to the closest petrol pump and fill up a full tank of gas. Once that was done we were ready to hit the road. We planned to go via Pune as another friend of mine finally agreed on joining us if we picked him up from Pune. So we set off and aimed to go to Pune via the expressway. I was really looking forward to the weekend ahead as I hadnt visited my school in years and all of us going had done our schooling in Panchgani. We cruised along with barely a hint of traffic; we hit the expressway and were covering ground very quickly. I kept thinking to myself how perfect it would be if roads were always this empty. We reached Pune by around 10am. My friend Jash, was already waiting at our pre decided place and so we didnt waste anytime in the entire ordeal of picking him up. We soon exited Pune and were on our way to Panchgani via the pune Bangalore highway. We kept cruising along and were just about an hour away from Panchgani. We stopped in the middle for a chai as we had planned to eat lunch straight in Panchgani, at the same place we always ate when we were in school. After sometime I could see Harrisons folly which meant Panchgani was just a stone throws away. As we entered the town where we had all spent many years of our lives, so many memories came back to us and brought the biggest smile on our faces.
We had already booked a room at the Ravine hotel and we rushed there in order to drop of our
backpacks and
duffle bags. After that we went for lunch, and reminisced some more there. We were all so glad that we made this trip and planned to do it a little more often in the future.
