Mystify Yourself While Capturing The Mist

Imagine getting up in the morning and looking out of the window and realizing within

a span of a few seconds that only few feet is visible for you and the rest is covered in the mist. Or at night when you are driving late at night you notice cloudy roads in front of you. So if you are vacationing on some hills then these visual treats are quite common. So does that mean you will pack your movie camera in your bag because you feel mist will spoil your photographic escapades? Then think twice.

You should be all set to capture an entirely new and different world that is blanketed with fog. When you see fog all around you at that moment everything seems so mysterious and unique looking for you. You would require a camera that has the ability to adjust along with the best type of exposure. Choose a digital SLR camera and print with a high quality ink cartridge or point and shoot manual control. It would prove to be the best for your shooting. It will give you complete freedom to control your camera the way you want and even the image quality that will come out will be always quite consistent.

In many cases the snow, fog and sunlight spoils the ability of the camera to give correct readings under huge light. Try to use a manual mode here then there wont be any confusion as to where you have to use the shutter speed and where you would have to use the aperture settings and ISO for maximum exposure.

If you want to use a tripod or not is entirely your choice as it would entirely depend upon the amount of light that will be required for shooting. If you want to shoot the landscape shots then use 100 ISO for longer and sharper pictures. If you feel that the sene that you are shooting is already quite bright then leave the tripod at your home as it will tend to slow your energy levels.

There are many places where the presence of fog adds to the levels of mystery in the photos and it seems as if something surreal has been shot. You can play with the pictures with the movie camera by adding some drama to it. It will further enhance the mystery of the pictures by converting the pictures in sepia or black and white tones and printing the pictures with a good quality ink cartridge. By doing this you will ensure that you will add a certain level of contrast and separate the white fog from the background.

You can also try to underexpose the image while leaving the fog with some amount of brightness with shades of white or gray. Try to break the monotony of the pictures by adding some colors to it and making it peppy. Shoot in place that have an abundance of vivid colors of nature that will also make the fog stand out.
