NGO alarmed over Nigerian political system

A Non Governmental Organization, Gamji Members Association (GAMA) has called on the Nigeria security outfit to investigate the move by the Southern Politicians and accused politicians from the South of premeditated acts to destruct the upcoming elections in 2011 in order to deny the North its chance ofhaving a President for the next 6 years, insisting that now was the time for all Northerners to pray in unison for the quick recovery of Mr. President. As the controversy surrounding the health of President Umaru Musa YarAdua continued to rage, hundreds of Northern youths calls for unity and prayer for the President of Nigeria stating that this is the plan of some politicians to split Nigeria up. National President of the GAMA, Alhjaij Lawal Jibrin who stressed that the constant and urgent calls for the resignation of President Yaradua afterhis departure to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment had revealed Nigeria is in a great danger and all that is a plasn to move the presidential seat of power to the South other than the North. He further said, the agitation for YarAdua to resign is purely aimed to pave way for power to shift to the south, for the extension of yet another perpetuation of the southern political domination ten years after the Obasanjo regime. GAMA believed that todays problems inNigeria were a demonstration of incompetence of the successive Nigerian governments, inherited over the years. In fact is a victim of corruption and mismanagement by the previous administration. They firmly believe that a sick and sincere President is better than an insincere and corrupt leader. The agitators for the resignation had kept mute when YarAdua accepted the irregularities in his election and went further to constitute electoral reform committee in order to sanitize election in Nigeria. The YarAdua government ,they said, had exposed diversion of billions for fake power project,a fact made known by a committee constituted by the National Assembly late in the 2007, to prove the contract awarded during the 8 years of Obasanjo regime.About the Author:
