Napa Valley Wine Trains New Ceo Tony Giaccio
(NAPA, September 2012) The Napa Valley Wine Train a family owned business has a new CEO
. Up until recently, the acting CEO was Greg McManus. Greg is the son-in-law of deceased founder of the Wine Train, Vincent Di Dominico. Di Dominico was formally known for his invention of Rice-a Roni, and ownership of Ghiradeli square. When Mr. Di Domenico passed, Greg took over the Wine Train as CEO. After building a strong team, McManus has decided to retire and promote a new CEO from within the Company.
Tony has effectively been assuming the CEO duties for the past year so the transition will not be abrupt. Tony has been an employee of the Napa Valley Wine Train for twenty three years, he originally interviewed for a part time controller position, which ended up being a full time position. Within the year Tony had become assistant controller. Five years later Tony obtained the Human Resources position, and for the past 12 years he has been our Chief Financial Officer. We welcome Tony as he steps into his official new title as CEO of the Napa Valley Wine Train.
In his departure Greg McManus had this to say:
Hello All,
Five years ago, after the loss of the Wine Trains founder and the beginning of the deepest economic downturn in nearly a century, I made a commitment to the employees of this company that I would do my best to keep the Company running and provide steady employment for our workforce. Today, I am proud to say that the Company is in a healthy financial position and the future looks very bright. I cannot take credit for this achievement as it is really thanks to all of you, your hard work and commitment that we have come this far. It is team work that got us to this point not only within our Company but with our many Partner companies as well. The Napa Valley Wine Train is a hospitality industry leader and you should all be very proud of your accomplishments. Because we have built such a competent wine Train team, all of you, I can now confidently turn over the management of the Napa Valley Wine Train to Tony Giaccio, the new CEO. Tony has essentially been running the Company for the past year so the transition should be seamless. I am excited to see how Tony builds on the foundations we, together, have laid. The future of the Napa Valley Wine Train has never been brighter. I will continue to see you all on occasion as I am sure I will be checking in with Tony when ever I need a delicious lunch.
-Greg McManus
