Naturopathy Schools permit prospective students to explore the world of natural medicine and the healing arts. As with many colleges and universities, students should carefully preview curricula and any prerequisite course(s) that may be necessary to apply to one of several Naturopathy Schools in the United States and in Canada.A number of naturopathy schools will extend a variety of certificate and degree programs, depending on the nature of study. For those students who are primarily interested in enrolling in the Doctor of Naturopathic medicine program, there are several prerequisites that must be met prior to entry. Requirements for enrollment into naturopathy schools may include but are not limited to college-level algebra and/or precalculus, chemistry, general biology, physics, psychology, English and humanities; among others.
The concept of naturopathy didn't reach the United States until the late 1890s. At this time, the term was used by Benedict Lust, who was also schooled in other forms of natural medicine such as hydrotherapy. Lust went on to found the American School of Naturopathy in 1905, which was opened in New York. The American School of Naturopathy was the first college of its kind to be opened in the United States, but the practice of naturopathy began losing followers in the 1930s when synthetic drugs and penicillin started to be used more regularly. All Naturopathy Studies are focused on the "whole" health of an individual. This implies that Naturopathy Studies are for more than just natural medicine purposes; they are founded on the principles of mind, body, and spirit. They encourage innate healing responses to diseases and other physical and mental disorders.
Naturopathy Degrees may be gained by entrants who are willing to put a great deal of dedication into their health studies and clinical participation.
