Nautical Interior Decor Tips And Tricks
Why is it that nautical themes never seem to go out of style
? Is it because most people enjoy the ocean, river, lake, or that little secluded pond. Or are you a boater and spend many hours and weekends on the water visiting many interesting places, and small island. Or is it because the style never goes out of favor. No matter the reasons no matter how many rooms nautical themes enjoy a most popular place in our society today as it has for generations. You can start small, maybe only a lighthouse clock, dolphin end table, lamp, and bottled ship, whatever. You will find that has time goes on you will be adding to that dcor, friends will start bringing you little nautical gifts, and before you know it you will just have to re-do that room. Some of the best decorated rooms I have seen started that way, and there is always a story to go along with just about every nautical pieces in the room.
There are usually two main themes in a nautical room and without these the room will seem to be missing something. Lighthouses and dolphins are a must for any nautical room. You dont have to be a sailor to know the lighthouse guided many a ship, and small crafts on a stormy night. Guiding it to safety. Maybe thats why lighthouses seem to relieve stress; just by knowing something is there in the midst of that storm you are not alone. On the other hand the gentle nudge of the dolphin can be just as relaxing as a bottle of pills to relieve stress. Whatever the reasons if you are going to have a nautical room you must have one or preferably both a lighthouse and a dolphin in your room. In smaller rooms use as bathrooms only one theme is needed. You need not go to extremes like I did and build a lighthouse which serves as an entertainment center, complete with rotating light on the top. Something as simple as a poster will do, there are so many available. There are also so many clocks, and other smaller lighthouse and dolphin items, there really is no reason why you cannot included these in your dcor. A beautiful lighthouse end table is always attractive, some will even light up. Or how about a dolphin coffee table, the charm and warmth of dolphins is always a stress reliever. Other accessories such as mirrors, clocks, lures, lamps, or candles are always a welcome sight in any home.
There are many nautical accessories available and at reasonable prices. Currently there is a series of blogs on the web which will help you decorate each room in your house. Re-decorating a room can be fun, and entertaining is you take your time and plan the room before starting. Yes, there is work involved but the results will be well worth it.
