Network Marketing - Kiyosaki Style!
Robert Kiyosaki is an American businesses man who made his fortune the old-fashioned way
. He earned it from nothing. It wasn't his real estate business or his personal investments that made him famous, but rather his bestselling book Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
The success of that book shot Kiyosaki into the superstar class of business guru and motivational speaker. Even the Rich Dad franchise began from nothing. Kiyosaki self-published the first edition of the book, which was later picked up by a national publisher, and is now being published by Kiyosaki's own company. Recently, Kiyosaki, along with his friend Donald Trump, made headlines in the business community when they came out in support of network marketing.
Before partnering with Trump, Kiyosaki wrote a book on marketing called The Business School for People Who Like Helping People. In this book he wrote, "Many of these companies are really business schools that teach values not found in traditional business schools...values such as the best way to become rich is to teach yourself and other people to become business owners, rather than teach them to be a loyal employee working for the rich."
In the Trump Kiyosaki collaboration entitled Why We Want You to be Rich, Trump says of the industry, "Network marketing has proven itself to be a viable and rewarding source of income, and the challenges could be just right for you. There have been some remarkable examples of success, and those successes have been earned through diligence, enthusiasm and the right product combined with timing. As with so many issues, there are tangibles and intangibles involved, but success is not a total mystery, and that applies to this industry, as well."
This is the entire premise of Kiyosaki's Rich Dan plan. He contends that a person can not truly ever be rich by working for someone else. The only way to make money is to go into business for yourself. And he endorses MLM as a legitimate way to own your own business, help others own their own business, and become a successful professional. He also underscores the importance of both working hard and working smart. Everyone in the industry is familiar with the concept of working smarter, not harder and making your time and money work for you. Kiyosaki teaches these concepts in almost every single one of his books.
"If I had to do it all over again, rather than build an old style type of business, I would have started building a multilevel marketing business," Kiyosaki writes. This is a glowing endorsement from a man who has succeeded in business on his own and who has made a fortune helping other people achieve personal success. Bear in mind, he does not consider the industry to be a get rich quick scheme, nor does he advocate jumping in to an opportunity without doing your research. If you want to emulate Trump or Kiyosaki and you want to do it through network marketing, you have to be prepared to work, and work hard. Picking up Kiyosaki's books won't make you rich, but it can help keep you motivated to work toward your financial independence.
