New Guidelines issued by Education Dept

To keep a check on government school teachers, who were misusing tour programmes meant for students under the Rashtriya Madhmik Sikhya Abhiyaan (RMSA), the education department has issued some guidelines.

Officials said this was done to save the precious time of students. Sources said the tours were intended to be educational. However, many teachers would accompany the tour groups and not take classes.

The scheme is sponsored by Union human resources development ministry to provide quality education to all young people in the age group of 14 to 18 years.

One of the department officials said, the director general school education had noticed that all other classes were affected in government schools when a tour took place. Now, only one teacher can go for every 30 students on tour. Two teachers can go if students number between 30 and 70. Three teachers can accompany more than 70 students.

District education officer Harbhajan Ram said that a lot of irregularities had been found in the touring programme, Education was getting affected in most of classes. And so, the new guidelines were issued by DGSE.
