New Maruti Wagon R Review

The Wagon R originated in 1993 manufactured by Suzuki Motors in Japan. It is the first "tall boy" concept car of its segment. After the introduction of Maruti Wagon R in India in 1999, Maruti Suzuki profits started to boom highly. Since its launch till date it is one of the most successful and best-selling of Maruti cars in the country. Today most of the variants of this model have upgraded features with superior technologies.

All the models of this small car have the petrol and CNG versions equipped with 1.0 Liter KB10 series engine having a displacement of 998 cc, that has DOHC, three-cylinder, four-valve configuration. All the variants of the new Maruti Wagon R come with five speed manual gearbox transmission. This engine is the best performer, as the petrol engine can gives tremendous output with a peak power of 68 ps at 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 90 nm at 3200 rpm whereas the CNG version has the capacity to churn out peak power 59.3 ps at 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 77 nm at 3500 rpm.

The company often releases new upgraded variants of this car and the recently launched variants are - Wagon R 2010 CNG Fuel system and Wagon R 2011 Duo. All the variants of Wagon R are available with the colors like Bakers Chocolate, Fire Brick Red, Breeze Blue, Midnight Black, Superior White, Glistening Grey and Silky Silver. New Maruti Wagon R prices range between 3.5 lacs and 4.5 lacs in India. (prices can be subject to variation).

Since Wagon R has a cable type gearshift, it is not only easy to change the gears but it also plays great role in fuel consumption. It is packed with weightless body with aluminum metal and conforms to the BS IV emission norms. The petrol and CNG versions are provided with a fuel tank capacity of 35 liters and 60 respectively. When it comes to mileage, the petrol engine delivers a mileage of 14.2 km per liter in city traffic and around 18.9 km per liter on highways. The CNG version offers a mileage of 15.5 km per liter in city and 22.2 km per liter on highways. All these features make it the best in fuel efficient cars.

As overall evolution, Maruti Wagon R is the best performer that can give the decent mileage and features, all of that comes at affordable price tag.
