2) Taking a Hobby Further - Creating a business out of a hobby is a great idea because you never lose motivation. It's a win win. Making money from something which you love is a great feeling - and so is sharing your skills and enjoyment with the world.

3) Trying Out a New Career - If you've ever wondered about switching to your dream career but you're not sure if you'd love it as much as you think you would, starting up a side business is a great way to get a feeling for it. Maybe you always wanted to be a designer or photographer. If you start a new online business in one of these, it gives you a chance to test the waters.

4) Developing Your Skill Set - Most ordinary jobs don't really offer that much room for personal development. If you want to learn more about design for example you're probably on your own. Starting a new web business gives you a chance to learn lots of new skills but in an enjoyable environment, and an environment you control.

5) A Safety Net - As you most likely already know, the economy is in a bit of a mess right now. Having a second income means that if the unthinkable does happen and you lose your job, you can at least still put food on the table. Remember, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Your new internet business can easily become your livelihood. If you work your business properly it can make you more than enough to live off of and reduce a lot of the stress you would feel working a typical nine to five job.
