New Orleans Saints Tickets - Undefeated Saints Add New Rb
It can often be difficult for the defending Super Bowl champions to keep the momentum
going into the next season, but so far the New Orleans Saints haven't had a problem. Two weeks into the regular season, the New Orleans Saints have a 2-0 record. That doesn't mean, though, that both victories have been easy. It has already become clear that those with New Orleans Saints tickets are going to have an exciting experience this season.
The Saints began their season with a replay of the NFC Championship game from last season, where they faced the Minnesota Vikings and veteran quarterback Brett Favre. The last time the two faced, it ended with the Saints on top 31-28 and heading to the Super Bowl. This time, the Saints didn't allow the Vikings a chance at redemption, but the score was much lower (14-9).
Like in other games, Drew Brees had an exceptional game, tallying 237 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a passer rating of 101.3. Conversely, Favre was 15 of 27 for 171 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a passer rating of 71.7. During the Vikings' one touchdown, the Saints stepped up and blocked the extra point. The Saints cemented a victory in the third quarter with a one-yard touchdown run by Pierre Thomas.
During Week Two, the Saints were up against the San Francisco 49ers, who were hoping to notch a win after a tough Week One loss to the Seattle Seahawks. They came out strong and challenged the Saints the entire game. The Saints controlled the scoring in the first quarter, but the Niners came back to take the lead in the third quarter. The Saints stole the lead back by the end of the third quarter, and put some distance between them and the Niners with two field goals early in the fourth. Then, the Niners tallied a touchdown and added a two-point conversion to tie the game. With just seconds left in the game, Garret Hartley kicked a 37-yard field goal to win the game. Hartley's efforts helped him earn NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
The Saints didn't walk away from the game against the Niners unscathed, though. Star running back Reggie Bush suffered a broken bone in his right leg during the game and is expected to be out six weeks because of the injury. To make up for the loss of Bush, the Saints signed veteran running back Ladell Betts. Betts entered the league in 2002 as the second round pick for the Washington Redskins, and he remained with the Redskins through the 2009 season. The Saints were familiar with Betts because of his time with the team during training camp. Betts has mostly played as a backup running back. In his career, he has tallied 3,176 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. The Saints also have running backs Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory. To make room for Betts, the Saints waived fourth-string running back and special teams player DeShawn Wynn.
