New stores opened at the local mall. Stores this state has never seen before with H&M and Crates and Barrels, Chico's, Flip Flop Shops, and the Art of Shaving. The town has never had such shopping opportunities and responded with lines stretching around the physicality for hours. What is it about new shopping that gets people so excited?

Fashion trends generally start on the East and West Coast. If you go on vacation to one of these destinations like LA, San Francisco or New York, you may see a style you like and bring it home. You may not see it in your local stores for over a year. When one of these big, fashion forward stores makes its way into a new market, the locals go crazy.

A neighbor boy works at the new H&M, a Swedish based clothing store that is taking the nation by storm, he has been working 65-70 hours a week just stocking the shelves and racks. During opening week, they kept people waiting in the cold for hours. Certainly not because they wanted to, but fire code only allowed 3000 in the store at one time. The shelves were looking bare by noon each day even with hundreds of boxes of merchandise arriving at 6:30 each morning.

H&M is a fashion forward store selling clothes for men, women, and children including maternity and lingerie. What keeps people coming back are their prices. While inexpensive, the clothes well constructed. What a concept!

The Art of Shaving is a little store, a nostalgic little store that catches your eye the first time you walk by. Often one of the employees will be shaving a gentleman in the store front. This generation has never seen a shave with a straight edge. The store is full of pre shave products, shaving products and aftershave along with a plethora of razors, products and kits. It takes you back to kinder, gentler days.

Crates and Barrel is a stores worth your time to wander. Even if you are not a cook, you will appreciate all the pretty things for you home and kitchen. Enough gizmos and gadgets to make your heart sing. It almost makes the noncook want to think about joining the ranks of the cooking channel fans and whipping up something delicious.

All these new stores with the promise of more on the way, makes the shoppers heart happy. New blood, new fashion, new bowls, and pretty centerpieces. Lots of happy shoppers and lots to look at. New stores, new experiences, from pre shave gel to ceramic ramekins, there is something for everyone.
