Toyota's Camry model has managed to elude most of the mudslinging surrounding recent recalls of other Toyota models. Toyota dealers in NJ are convinced this is because the Camry stands up so well when compared to similar models from competing automakers.

With a bigger trunk than the Honda Accord, 15 cubic feet, both models seat five but the Camry offers four doors, although the Accord does look a bit more stylish. Customers of Newark new Toyota dealers also will appreciate the larger engine and greater horsepower in the Camry 3.5-liter V6 with 179- horsepower compared to 2.4-liter inline with 177 or 190 horsepower. The Camry also offers both Six-speed manual and automatic while the Accord offers both in five-speed but on the manual in six-speed.

When it comes to the cost of driving, the Camry looks even more attractive. The Accord gets city mileage of 17-22 per gallon and 25-31 highway. The Camry does slightly better in both arenas which can mean big savings in the long run. It comes in at 19-22 mph for the city and 28-33 highway. With a yearly output of one 7.1 to 8.0 metric tons of greenhouse gas, Camry comes in well under Accords 7.3 to 9.2 metric ton range.In the greenhouse gas department, Accord's annual CO2 production range of 7.3 to 9.2 metric tons doesn't quite match the Camry's annual CO2 production of 7.1 to 8.0 metric tons.

When it come to safety the antilock brake system, stability control and brake assist, they are standard on most Accord and Camry models and airbags help complete the picture. The Accord scored vie-star ratings in three tests by the National Highway Transportation Safety Association but Toyota Camry wins in this category again with five-star ratings in every test. At the five-year mark, the cost is $34,718 for an Accord but only $33,194 for a Toyota Camry.

Looking at both models at a glance, they might not seem much different, but in a point-by-point comparison Camry certainly comes out on top.
