Newquay, Cornwall Attractions
I dislike work and love a good road trip so heading to Newquay
, looking at Newquay Cornwall attractions, was a welcome distraction!
Driving in to town to find our accommodation we stumble upon Fistral Beach.....Oh My....this is one of the top beaches in England and the sea is insanely blue and, for once, the sun is shining. So, that's it, it is decided. We are staying for a while. We buy some cider and go and sit on the sand whilst one of the guys we are with decides to go for a swim. In my opinion this is not the best idea at 5pm in May and especially in England but we all encourage him anyway!
Fistral Beach is the most popular beach area in Newquay and it is easy to see why. If your a keen surfer or a beginner this will soon become your heaven! With so many different surf schools sitting among the waves it is obvious this is a great place to learn to surf. That is if your brave enough for the endure the English sea temperature! Even if you're not a surfer it is a fantastic thing to sit and watch.
Besides the beach there are plenty of other sights to see. The high street is literally teeming with souvenir shops selling a variety of life guard tops and t-shirts and lots of kitchy things for all your loved ones back home. The town also is a very good place to relax and have a beer with its multiple bars and amazing sea views. A particularly good place for this is the 'On the Rocks' bar. 'On The Rocks is a super friendly bar with great service, lovely food and a fantastic sea view (plus a very good drinks promotion). Just across the road is one of the 'Walkabout' tavern chain. It's brilliant for a big night out and they have live music plus an open mic night on a Monday with a full house band for you to perform with.
One thing I always love about going to the seaside has got to be fish and chips! The best chip shop by far is located on the main drag and is called 'Flounders'.The girls working here are real characters and the food is cheap and very very cheerful. The fish was fresh, the batter crispy and the chips were something to write home about for sure! A definite must do if you are ever visiting!
Another must do place to eat is the Medieval restaurant 'Medieval Meadery' on Marcus Hill. This is a real change from the norm and a lot of fun. It is set up like a medieval castle and features medieval music and ambiance. The food is lovely and very reasonable and the wine flows. A truly once in a life time experience and shouldn't be missed.
There are some other lovely views and walks to do from the center of town and around the beach areas. Whether you are here to sight see or to do some lovely scenic walks it is a fun place to spend a holiday with lots of possibilities for people of all ages.
To sum up in a sentence I would say Newquay is fun for all the family, with something for everyone, young or old!
There's a lot of fun to be had in Newquay, Cornwall. Attractions are plentiful and the beaches around Newquay and the Atlantic Coast of Cornwall are simply among the finest in western Europe.
