Nfl Tickets - Looking In On The Nfc East

As we hit the stretch run of the 2009 NFL season

, this is how things are shaping up in a tight NFC East race.

Philadelphia Eagles (9-4): The Eagles are the most reliable team in this division on a week-to-week basis. They've got a dynamic offensive attack, at least through the air. Quarterback Donovan McNabb has excelled for much of his career despite lacking a dependable group of receivers to throw to for most of it, but the franchise has recently landed some good young guys to man the outside on offense. DeSean Jackson is uncoverable at times and gives this offense the big play dimension that it has lacked in the past. Jeremy Maclin is having a fine rookie season and seems to be a nice complement to Jackson.

Jackson is developing into one of those must-see guys that everyone wants to get NFL tickets to watch. He can break a touchdown any time he touches the ball. The running game is less potent than the Philadelphia passing attack, though, as Brian Westbrook has missed a lot of time this season with a concussion. Rookie LeSean McCoy has been solid, but the team doesn't appear ready to give him the full load on a weekly basis. The team's defense is a vulnerable unit, but the explosive passing game the club boasts should be enough to earn them the division. Their last three games are not easy matchups, though.

Dallas Cowboys (8-5): The Cowboys were 8-3, but have lost their first two games in December. The December woes have killed the Cowboys in recent years and the team is trying to avoid another tough month. Their remaining schedule certainly won't help matters, as they've got to play the Eagles, the undefeated Saints and a better-than-advertised Redskins team. This offense, while looking great on paper, doesn't move the ball the way one would expect. Their defense is solid, but not good enough to win them games.

New York Giants (7-6): They were my preseason Super Bowl pick, but things have not gone swimmingly for Big Blue this season. They've experienced some key injuries on the defensive side of the ball that have really affected the performance of that unit. Their lines are also not dominating the way that we're used to seeing. The defensive line is not terrorizing opposing offensive lineman and the offensive line is not pushing people around and creating huge holes for the running game. Brandon Jacobs is not having the big year that most people expected, and although Ahmad Bradshaw has been good, the team hasn't been able to run the ball as effectively as they've needed to set up their passing game.

Washington Redskins (4-9): This team is better than their record suggests, and a lot of people seem to fail to realize that. The Redskins can compete with the best teams in the league (a la their Week 13 matchup with New Orleans,) but they don't know how to finish. They're a well-rounded club that has talent on both sides of the ball. I don't think this team is very far from competing for the playoffs, and Mike Shanahan could be the guy to get them there next season.
