Nfl Tickets - Mvp Contenders List Stacked With Quarterbacks
Pro Bowl voting is open, the elite teams in the league have broken away from the
pack and so names have been tossed around as contenders for the NFL's MVP award this year. The usual suspects like Indianapolis' Peyton Manning have once again been thrown into the mix of MVP contenders for the 2009-10 season, and this year's other top picks for the award also include New Orleans' Drew Brees and Minnesota's Brett Favre, signifying that this year's MVP award will likely go to one of the league's top-notch quarterbacks.
The obvious front-runner for this year's MVP award is Peyton Manning, as the Colts' No. 1 player has sent all kinds of rockets downfield to give the Colts an 11-0 record after Week 12 of the regular season. There is no limit for Manning this season and his team's several come-from-behind wins this season have proven it. Manning is currently in the midst of his most explosive year to date, making him the obvious choice for MVP. His work with rookie Austin Collie and second-year receiver Pierre Garcon is largely applauded, and he ranks at the top of the totem pole for NFL quarterbacks so far with passing yards, leading the pack with 3,415 passing yards after Week 12.
Manning is the favorite for MVP, but don't forget about the underdog Drew Brees. The former Purdue standout has hammered out some very solid performances so far this season, and his five TD passes in New Orleans' Week 12 game against the New England Patriots gave the Saints the upper hand in the poles against the Colts. Brees' passer rating is 112.6, and his 11-0 team looks like they might just be able to steamroll over the Colts should these two undefeated teams see each other in the Super Bowl.
While Manning and Brees are in the spotlight for their undefeated records, let's not overlook Minnesota's Brett Favre. Favre is like the Energizer Bunny, and he won't stop at anything to get that long-coveted Super Bowl ring. Favre has had an incredible season so far, reviving the Vikings with the help of Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin, and no quarterback has earned the recognition of MVP quite like Brett Favre has this year. At 40 years old, Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks of the last two decades, and his role with the Vikings certainly puts him in the running for MVP this year.
Manning, Brees and Favre are the three quarterbacks in contention for the 2010 Super Bowl and the coveted MVP award, and this trio of leaders is at the forefront of the MVP talk going into the last part of the season. While former MVP Tom Brady isn't even near the discussion this year, other quarterbacks to be given mention for this year's MVP award include San Diego's Philip Rivers and Tennessee's Vince Young. Both quarterbacks have led their respective teams from lukewarm starts on the season and have transformed them into frontrunners for their divisions, helping to sell NFL tickets all the way through the season. Who should snag the honor of MVP this year after Week 17? It may not even be one of the league's quarterbacks, but there's a great chance it will be.
